I am a floral artist drawing with both pencil and embroidery.
I am from Cornwall, studied textiles at Loughborough University, and now live and work in West Sussex. After working as an interior textile designer for fifteen years, I have been drawn back to my love of drawing and find flowers simply irresistible.
I was delighted to be invited to become a member of ‘Horsham School of Botanical Artists’ when it was founded in 2019. I like to work in pencil to capture the fine details that intrigue me so much. My artworks are all inspired by the beauty, variety, and intricacy of flowers. I find them truly fascinating and love studying them as I draw. My illustrations are mostly of flowers drawn in isolation, which is my way of putting the flowers in the spotlight.
With my background in textiles, I still love working with fabrics and use the sewing machine as another means of drawing. I create unique embroidered artworks incorporating hand pressed flowers, a technique I developed whilst at university. These delicate and natural pieces make a beautiful wedding keepsake.
I have developed an ever-increasing range of greeting cards, limited edition prints and gift items, as well as working on bridal bouquet commissions, for those special wedding and anniversary gifts and mementos.
I use this Sunflower illustration as my logo because it means a lot to me. When my son turned eight he asked me to draw a Sunflower for his gift. This is the Sunflower I drew and it still hangs in his room.
